The weekend is here and that means it’s time for another featured Mac setup! This week we’re bring you the workstation of Waleed, a student and video editor who likes to keep his desk fairly minimalist. Let’s jump in and learn a bit more about the hardware and how it gets put to use:

What hardware does your Mac setup consist of?

  • Apple iMac 27″ – Core i7 2.8GHz CPU, 16GB of RAM, running OS X Mavericks
  • Apple Magic Mouse
  • Apple Wireless Keyboard
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPad Mini
  • Red Apple Smart Cover for the iPad Mini

What do you use your Apple gear for?

I am a video editor and student, as well as a photographer. I use use my iMac as my main video editor, and also for daily activities like web searching. This is the 27″ iMac model, which is phenomenal for video editing.

What apps do you use most often?

I usually use Final Cut Pro X and Adobe PhotoShop when I am doing any editing. I love Final Cut Pro X because it is so simple to use when it comes to editing.

Do you have anything else you’d like to share about your setup?

I plan on changing up my setup very soon and also I plan on getting a new desk to make the setup look cleaner and more minimalistic. Desk Suggestions are appreciated!
I also plan on getting a Retina MacBook Pro very soon.

Thats a super bare bone desk, I guess as an audio student we just have more stuff fingertip reach. Do like the simplicity though.

    Nice setup.

Since you’re looking for some desk advice here’s my 2 cents: If you’re doing video and photo editing I would highly recommend getting a second monitor, it’s so useful and greatly aids in productivity. You can have palettes and previews, before and after images, so much detail on the two screens at once. Huge productivity booster for everyone, but especially creatives!

Also, raise your monitors a bit so the top 3/4 of the screen is across from your eyes. You can use a stack of hardback books or a shelving system which can store a keyboard and stuff too.

I know have 2 more monitors connected to it as well as a maxed out rMBP and a few other things added to the desk. I’m thinking about getting the stand that MKBHD, a Tech YouTuber, uses for his monitors.
