How to Edit Messages on WhatsApp
WhatsApp now offers the ability to edit sent messages, a convenient feature for correcting typos, errors, mistakes, or hastily sent messages that you soon regret. If you’re ever in this situation and using WhatsApp, there’s no need to freak out, because you can simply edit the message, correct or modify whatever you typed or sent, and regain some peace of mind.
You can edit any sent message on WhatsApp for 15 minutes after it has been sent, and you can do anything from edit the text, to delete the text, to add or remove images and media.
How to Edit Sent Messages on WhatsApp for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Web, etc
Editing messages in WhatsApp is super easy, be sure you update WhatsApp to the latest available version, then all you need to do is:
- Open WhatsApp and then select the chat or conversation where the message is that you want to edit
- For iPhone and iPad, tap and hold on the message until you see a menu appear. For WhatsApp on Mac, PC, or the web, hover the mouse over the message then click the down arrow ⌄
- Choose “Edit” from the menu that appears
- Edit your message, then select the green checkmark to complete the edited message
The edited message will display an “Edited” note attached to it, but unlike the Messages app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, you will not have access to an Edit History for that message (at least not for the time being, perhaps that will be a feature added later).
Editing messages had a slow rollout, so many WhatsApp users initially may not have seen the capability available on their device(s) or their accounts. If you do not see the feature available, make sure you update to the latest version of WhatsApp first, then relaunch the app.
