Release Candidate of iOS 17.5 & iPadOS 17.5 Available for Testing

Apple has issued release candidate builds for iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5, tvOS 17.5, and visionOS 1.2. MacOS Sonoma 14.5 release candidate is not yet available.

The release candidate versions arrived right after the new M4 iPad Pro debuted, and the final version of iPadOS 17.5 will almost certainly ship on that device.

How to Download iOS 17.5 / iPadOS 17.5 Release Candidate

For users in the beta testing programs, the release candidate builds of iOS/iPadoS 17.5 can be downloaded easily:

1. Go to Settings app, then go to “General”
2. Go to “Software Update”, and choose to install the RC build of iOS 17.5/iPadOS 17.5

Similarly, if you want the RC build on a beta enrolled Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Apple Vision Pro, you can get that through those devices respective software update mechanisms.

This update introduces a new Pride Radiance wallpaper for the Lock Screen, Apple News enhancements, and other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.

● Offline mode in Apple News+ gives you access to the Today feed and News+ tab, even when you don’t have an internet connection
● Quartiles is a new and original daily word game that is now available in Apple News+
● Scoreboard in News+ Puzzles gives you access to new player data for Crossword, Mini Crossword and Quartiles, including stats and streaks

Tracking Notifications
● Cross-Platform Tracking Detection delivers notifications to users if a compatible Bluetooth tracker they do not own is moving with them, regardless of what operating system the device is paired with

When will the final version of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 be released?

Since the RC build was just released, it seems reasonable that the final version will be available in the near future, possibly by the end of the week.

Presumably macOS Sonoma 14.5 will arrive soon after.
