How to Hide Instagram Instants Button on iPhone

Instagram has introduced a new feature called “Instants” which seems to be inspired by Snapchat in that it allows for instant expiring pictures to be sent to people. Like any new feature, some people are going to like it, and some people are going to not like it, and if you happen to find the Instants feature to be annoying, particularly how it overlaps and hangs over your Instagram messages inbox.

Hide the Instagrams Instants Button from Messages on iPhone

1. Open the Instagram app then tap on your profile in the bottom corner
2. Now tap on the lines/hamburger button in the top right corner
3. Scroll down to find and tap on “Content Preferences”
4. Look for the toggle that says “Hide Instants in Inbox” and toggle this setting ON



5. Return to instagram as usual

The setting is labeled as “Hide instants in inbox” and says that “When this is on, you won’t see new instants in your inbox.”

Toggle the setting on to hide the feature, and now the Instants button is not going to be hanging over your Instagram messages.

Where else the Instants reside within Instagram I am not sure, but there is also a dedicated Instants app from Meta, so even if you hide Instants in your Instagram app, you can still use the feature by using the Instants app.

This works obviously for iPhone and it probably works the same on Android too but I don’t have an Android phone to confirm that on.
