iOS 26.5.1 Released for iPhone 17 Models & iPhone Air to Fix Charging Issue

iOS 26.5.1 update has been released by Apple, aimed at all models of iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air, to address an issue where the iPhone may not charge if the battery is low. The problem appears to only impact iPhone 17 models and iPhone Air, and thus the update is not available for all iPhone models.
Separately, Apple has released MacOS Tahoe 26.5.1 update to fix an issue with enterprise M5 Macs.
How to Download & Install iOS 26.5.1 Update
You will want to backup iPhone to iCloud prior to beginning any system software update:
- Open the “Settings” app on iPhone
- Go to “General”, and then to “Software Update”
- Choose “Update Now” to download and install the iOS 26.5.1 update
Again, the iOS 26.5.1 update is only available for iPhone 17 models and iPhone Air.
Your iPhone must restart to finish installation of the update.

If you’re a Mac user running Tahoe you will also find MacOS Tahoe 26.5.1 available, though that update specifies the bug it addresses is aimed at enterprise users with M5 chip Macs, so it’s probably not the most urgent update to apply if you don’t fall into that category.
