Cosmos inspired space wallpapers, all high resolution

In appreciation of Cosmos Day (also known as the Sunday that airs the Cosmos TV show), we’re bringing you six space-themed Cosmos inspired wallpapers to send your desktop and mobile backgrounds into another world. Each of these was crafted in the good old photoshop alternative of Pixelmator using NASA imagery as a starting point.

Each image is a high resolution 2500×2500 and fairly large to preserve maximum quality, weighing in around 2.5MB each on average, so you’ll be able to use it on most resolution displays, whether you’re putting these on a 24″ display, iPhone, a retina iPad, or a retina MacBook Pro. Go ahead, bring some Cosmos to your wallpaper*.

Whether you’re a fan of the Cosmos TV show and Neil deGrasse Tyson (and how can you not be?) or not, galaxies, nebulas, and wild space scenes consistently make for excellent wallpapers for the backgrounds of our desktops and mobile devices, which is probably why Apple includes many space themed images as either the defaults or optional wallpapers in both iOS and OS X.

Enjoy! *Sorry, no Neil deGrasse included.

Want some more space wallpapers? These NASA shots are pretty amazing too. Not your thing? That’s ok, check out our other wallpaper posts to find something else that fits your preferences.

    Hi everyone:
My research shows that if you set dark wallpapers on you iphone screen then you might be using more battery to bright your screen. I keep only those wallpapers which are not very dark. Above published wallpapers could be best fit for your laptop or MacBook but not for iphone if you want to save some battery in my view?

    Thanks,

Did you publish your research or is this anecdotal experience? The iPhone automatically adjusts brightness, wallpaper color shouldn’t matter.

That’s what I am saying that Iphone automatically adjusts for dark color backgrounds. Thanks for explanation
