OS X Yosemite Apple has released the second version of the OS X Yosemite Public Beta. Mac users who opted in to participate in the public beta program for Yosemite are recommended to install the update. Alongside Public Beta 2 is also a new beta version of the redesigned iTunes 12. Both updates focus on bug fixes and feature refinements as the next version of OS X marches closer towards a public release in the Fall.

Users who are actively running OS X Yosemite Beta will find the new update available to them through the Software Update mechanism of the Mac App Store. The download weighs in about 1.7 GB for both packages of the new iTunes 12 build as well as OS X Yosemite Beta 2.

The build number of OS X Yosemite Public Beta 2 is 14A329r making it nearly the same as Developer Preview 6, which is listed as build 14A329f, and the release includes new Yosemite themed wallpapers, a few changes to app icons, and some adjustments to translucent effects throughout the user interface. iTunes 12 Beta 2 also includes some user interface changes.

The download notes accompanying Beta 2 are short, saying simply “This update is recommended for all users”, and the condensed “Known Issues” mention an issue with Safari playing Netflix content, and some issues with iPhoto and Aperture working properly under Yosemite. Additionally, the Shared Purchase history page is invisible for shared Apple ID accounts.

    OSX10.10.2 & Mail 8.0
Mail still will not allow direct access to URLs in Safari without going thru the copy and paste dance.

URLs can be opened in a small Mail window, but will not allow click to open in Safari.

Apple Mail works but iTunes won’t start at all, it crashes all the time and TotalFinder that I use a lot and that was working just fine with Beta 1, won’t start… I just wish I could go back to Beta 1 now.

Well, I’ve installed DP2 and had a lot of updates after that.
After the updates, the mail and iCloud accounts were working correctly.
The only issue I get is the framerate in ESO and other games: the video drivers are not optimised yet it seems.
Btw: I downloaded the DP2 from iMZDL.

Trying to download and get an error. Apple Mail is not working for some iCloud accounts. iCloud Web page is not working either. :/
